About our stones and jewellery

Simulated Diamonds

Without a doubt, this is the best diamond alternative available today and is established as an affordable diamond substitute.

In 1937 the cubic form of zirconium oxide was discovered by two German mineralogists. In the 1970's when Soviet scientists learned how to "grow" this mineral in a laboratory it gradually became popular with jewelry designers.

Gemologists agree that a simulated diamond is the finest diamond alternative because it comes closer than any other gem material to matching the characteristics of a diamond.

Appearance
The simulated diamond looks almost exactly like a high quality diamond, and the overall effect is so similar that most people, even trained gemologists, cannot tell the difference with the naked eye.

Hardness
With a hardness rating of 8.5, a simulant comes close to matching diamond's perfect 10. It will even scratch glass, just like a diamond!

Weight
A 6.5mm simulated diamond is equal in size to a one-carat diamond and actually weighs about 1.75 carats.

Clarity
The finest simulated diamond is perfect in clarity as it is grown in a professionally controlled laboratory environment and your simulated gemstone will remain sparkling clear with regular cleaning. It can be worn everyday and will never get dull or change color.

Cut
All of our simulates are premium faceted stones and with its hardness and clarity it allows intensive precision faceting such that the hundreds of facets in trillion, quadrillion, and radiant cuts equal the brilliance of diamonds.

Chemical Composition
Zirconium oxide stabilized with magnesium and calcium. By using carefully controlled high purity ingredients and additives, our stones rival the color and brilliance of the best of genuine diamonds.

One of the properties that makes a genuine diamond so endearing, is its ability to refract a ray of light into colors of red, orange, green, yellow, violet and blue.

Our stones have a refractive index of 2.18, very close to a genuine diamond, which is 2.42.

Pearls

Our freshwater cultured pearls come from Southern China, and we have hand-picked the finest. Rounder and higher in quality than the rice-shaped irregular pearls, our pearls are comparable to the Japanese Akoya pearls in appearance, but much more affordable.

They come in a range of lustrous iridescent colors ranging from white, off-white to cream, pale pink and purple  black. As they are a natural product, no two pearls are exactly the same color; in a pink pearl bracelet you can find a wondrous harmony of slightly different pink shades.

Our pearl jewelry is hand-strung and assembled, by skilled Chinese pearl workers, and we like to think that our pearl jewelry is a little different from traditional conservative designs.

We have cuff bracelets, earrings with a long silver chain ending in a plump pearl drop, cluster rings and unusual necklaces and pendants.
